The first edition of the “Pedagogic Africa Smart City Exhibition” opens on March 15, 2023, in Casablanca, Morocco. Tech startups and African cities are invited to this meeting that will discuss the future of smart cities considering the climate challenge facing the continent.

In Morocco, Innovatel Engineering and Hassan II University’s Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer in Casablanca are jointly organizing the first “Africa Education Smart City Exhibition”. The event to be held from 15 to 17 March 2023 will have the theme “Moroccan Engineering for Smart Cities”. This will be done through conferences and workshops on sustainable mobility and energy transition.

During the three days, participants, including digital solutions companies, investors, and local government officials in Africa, will discuss the digital transformation mechanism of the regions, urban areas on the continent in general and in Morocco in particular. These include, for example, innovations related to the environmentally responsible consumption of resources, especially water, as well as artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate access to basic services. , especially telemedicine and the Digital Economy.

“The experts will exchange their experiences and present their innovations likely to respond effectively to current and future challenges in terms of the technological development of our cities. Thus, the exhibitions will give rise to the presentation of a model of a miniature smart city on an area of 2,000 square meters (about four times the area of a basketball court), which includes all technologies,” say the organizers.

The “Pedagogic Africa Smart City” exhibition will lead to raising the Moroccan progression in ecological transformation. It is in this context that Morocco announced in early 2023 that they would launch a program centered on “smart city strategies in Africa” in partnership with the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne in Switzerland. The initiative will speed up the digital transition of major cities such as Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, and Casablanca.
